Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare, administer, and accurately document prescribed medications
• Start IVs, insert urinary catheters, and change wound dressings with clinical precision
• Adjust and interpret measurements from specialized medical equipment
• Monitor patient vital signs and promptly report adverse reactions or changes in condition
• Perform thorough patient assessments and ongoing monitoring to support optimal outcomes
• Maintain clear, timely clinical documentation and communicate with the care team

Qualifications

• Oklahoma State Nursing License or Compact Nursing License (required)
• BLS (AHA) certification (required)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med-Surg experience (required)
• Recent travel nurse experience (preferred)
• Current skills checklist relevant to Med-Surg, up to date within 1 year
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last 2 years
• Work history and current permanent address (facility considers local candidates)

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration best practices and safe documentation
• IV starts and management of vascular access
• Urinary catheter insertion and care
• Wound care and dressing changes
• Patient assessment, monitoring, and interpretation of vital signs
• Clinical documentation and handoff communication
• Familiarity with Med-Surg workflows and multidisciplinary teamwork
• Ability to adjust and interpret readings from specialized medical equipment
