Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM; 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Schedule includes rotating day and night coverage with weekend shifts required (4 shifts in a 4-week period) and every-other-weekend (EOW) expectations. Night-focused assignment options available.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, patient-centered labor and delivery nursing care from admission through delivery and postpartum
• Scrub, assist, and circulate for C-section procedures and support recovery in the OR and PACU
• Continuously monitor fetal status using Obix fetal monitoring and intervene appropriately
• Manage triage and acute obstetric assessments, prioritizing safety and timely escalation
• Deliver compassionate postpartum care, including couplet care on postpartum when assigned
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with perinatology, anesthesia, neonatology support teams, and ancillary services to coordinate complex care
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned and support unit workflow, staffing ratios, and mentoring of staff

Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of practice (required)
• Minimum 2 years of direct Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• C-section experience required: scrub, recovery, and circulate skills
• Current BLS, NRP, ACLS, and Advanced AWHONN/AFM certification required
• Experience with fetal monitoring (Obix) and Cerner EMR preferred
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts including weekends and every-other-weekend rotations
• Travel nurse experience preferred; NICU background preferred for postpartum float opportunities

Education

• Active RN licensure (required). BSN not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong intrapartum and postpartum clinical assessment skills
• Proficient in electronic fetal monitoring interpretation and interventions
• Operative C-section support skills (scrub/recovery/circulate)
• Triage and acute obstetric decision-making
• Familiarity with Cerner documentation workflows
• Excellent communication, team collaboration, and patient education skills
• Ability to manage high-acuity and high-volume birth settings, including high-risk antepartum cases
