Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced critical care nursing for adult ICU patients, including ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Deliver high-quality post-CABG and post-op cardiac care, supporting complex procedures and recovery
• Assess and respond quickly to changes in patient condition; collaborate with intensivists and multidisciplinary team to implement treatment plans
• Operate and monitor advanced support such as ventilators and participate in care for ECMO and transplant patients when applicable
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Meditech and lead bedside shift report with clear updates to the white board
• Support unit flow by floating to other ICUs or PCU on rare occasions, maintaining continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience; CVICU experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; strong CPR competency
• Proven experience with ventilated patients, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-CABG care
• Comfortable using Meditech documentation system (Meditech experience preferred)
• Strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to thrive in a very high acuity environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory therapy collaboration
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of invasive lines
• Post-operative cardiac care including CABG and transplant familiarity
• Familiarity with ECMO basics and high-acuity cardiac procedures
• Meditech documentation and accurate charting practices
• Effective bedside shift reporting and family communication
• Critical thinking, rapid assessment, and prioritization under pressure
