Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to patients with a wide range of conditions from non-critical to life-threatening
• Rapidly assess, triage and stabilize patients while coordinating with the emergency team
• Deliver trauma, cardiac and pediatric emergency interventions according to established protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, mental health staff and ancillary departments for comprehensive patient care
• Document patient status, interventions and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families about care plans and follow-up needs in a compassionate manner
• Maintain required certifications and participate in departmental training and quality improvement activities
• Contribute to a safe, efficient and respectful ED environment for patients and colleagues

Qualifications

• Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required upon submission
• Healthcare Provider BLS required
• ACLS, TNCC and PALS required for LCH Emergency RN role
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
• Experience in emergency nursing or critical/acute care strongly preferred
• Comfortable working night shifts and providing emergent mental health care

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency triage and rapid patient assessment
• Trauma care and critical/acute care interventions
• Pediatric emergency and cardiac care skills
• Management of emergent mental health presentations
• Strong clinical documentation and EMR navigation
• Clear communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment
