Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patients' functional needs and create individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
• Deliver skilled OT interventions across assigned areas (inpatient, outpatient, rehab) and adapt care when floating to other units
• Collaborate with PT, SLP, nursing and rehab aides to coordinate patient-centered care
• Perform and document bedside swallow studies when indicated, and work with SLP on video swallowing studies as needed
• Document patient progress accurately and promptly in Cerner PowerChart
• Provide safe, effective interventions for diagnoses such as ortho, post-surgical, neuro, trauma and cardiac conditions
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing training to maintain clinical competency

Qualifications

• Passed NBCOT exam (required)
• Valid State Occupational Therapy license for California (must be able to submit license)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum one year of clinical experience required (inpatient clinical may be considered in some cases)
• Travel and trauma experience preferred
• Experience documenting in Cerner PowerChart or similar EMR
• Comfort floating to different areas and collaborating with rehab aides/OTA/PTAL

Knowledge & Skills

• Inpatient acute care and rehabilitation practices
• Patient assessment and development of functional treatment plans
• Skilled documentation in Cerner PowerChart
• Bedside swallow study experience; video swallowing study experience preferred
• Ability to treat ortho, post-surgical, neuro, trauma and medically complex patients
• Strong interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
• Ability to supervise and collaborate with rehab aides and assistive staff
