Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy care across the lifespan
- Conduct ADL training and therapeutic exercise programs tailored to each patient
- Perform home visits and village travel to deliver care in patients' communities
- Collaborate frequently with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams
- Document patient progress and compose clear, evidence-based plans of care
- Adapt treatment plans using age- and patient-specific considerations and cultural competence
- Use therapeutic modalities available (e.g., ultrasound, electrical stimulation) when appropriate
- Participate in competency assessments and maintain professional conduct aligned with YKHC mission
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy
- Current NBCOT certification required
- Licensed in good standing as an OT in Alaska, or holding a good-standing OT license in another state and awaiting Alaska licensure
- Current BLS certification
- No minimum clinical experience required (clinical experience preferred)
- Willing and able to complete required immunizations or provide acceptable titers (Hep A, Hep B, Varicella, MMR, Tdap, Polio)
- Able to pass required background checks, 10-panel drug screen (within 90 days), fit test/physical and provide required onboarding documents (photo ID, SSN card, license/certification, education/transcripts, references)
- Comfortable living in shared housing and traveling to villages as part of the role
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL training, therapeutic exercise and patient documentation
- Familiarity with evidence-based medicine and applying it to treatment plans
- Experience with ultrasound and electrical stimulation modalities (facility-dependent)
- Strong communication skills and cultural competence for working with diverse populations
- Ability to perform home visits and adapt care to village-based settings
- Comfortable working across inpatient, outpatient and long-term care environments
