Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead infection prevention efforts across the hospital with a focus on the operating room and sterile processing
• Develop, implement, and monitor infection control policies and procedures to protect patients and staff
• Perform surveillance, data collection, and trend analysis to drive targeted interventions
• Provide education and coaching to clinical teams on best practices, PPE, and sterilization techniques
• Investigate infection incidents and collaborate with leadership to implement corrective actions
• Partner with interdisciplinary teams to support patient safety and continuous quality improvement

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of Hawaii (required)
• Clinical experience in infection control with demonstrated work history in OR and sterile processing
• Experience working in a community hospital setting — you know how to be adaptable and hands-on
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
• Current BLS certification; additional credentials in prevention or quality are a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead education initiatives across departments

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) — required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Infection prevention principles and hospital-wide infection control practices
• Sterile processing workflows and operating room infection control protocols
• Surveillance, data analysis, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections
• Policy development, audit processes, and corrective action planning
• Cross-department collaboration with nursing, surgical services, and environmental services
