Roles & Responsibilities

• Process, cut, stain and mount tissue specimens with accuracy to support diagnostic work
• Perform high-volume anatomic pathology testing while maintaining quality and timeliness
• Follow CLIA and CAP laboratory standards and maintain accurate documentation
• Participate in method evaluation and validation to improve lab workflows
• Maintain specimen handling and tracking to ensure sample integrity
• Assist pathologists and lab staff with troubleshooting and technical input
• Contribute to quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Actively following or have completed an approved Histotechnician or Histotechnologist route
• ASCP, AMT or equivalent histotechnician/histotechnologist certification required
• Hands-on experience with tissue processing, microtomy and histology staining
• Familiarity with CLIA and CAP requirements and laboratory accreditation processes
• Comfort working in a high-volume lab environment with attention to detail
• Willingness to work occasional weekends as needed

Education

• Completion of or active progression through an approved Histotechnician/Histotechnologist program
• ASCP or AMT certification required or eligibility via approved route

Knowledge & Skills

• Tissue processing and specimen handling
• Microtomy and producing high-quality sections
• Histology staining techniques and slide mounting
• Anatomic pathology laboratory workflows and best practices
• Quality assurance and laboratory accreditation compliance
• Method validation and high-volume testing procedures
• Strong documentation and record keeping
