Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, MD

Shift Type: Night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC; Days: Varies — schedule to be confirmed with scheduler (primarily nights)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
Monitor residents' condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
Support safe and timely meal assistance and feeding when required
Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
Document care activities clearly and accurately in resident records
Collaborate with the care team to create a calm, respectful atmosphere for residents

Qualifications

GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
Comfortable working nights and supporting a geriatric population
Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude
Ability to perform physical tasks associated with resident care safely

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
GNA certification or approved nursing assistant program completion

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and elder needs
Skillful in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
Good observation skills for recognizing changes in condition
Respectful, patient-centered communication with residents and families
Familiarity with standard infection control and safety practices
