Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (days as scheduled), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, day shift

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
Observe and report changes in residents' condition to nursing staff promptly
Assist with meal setup and feeding, honoring residents' dietary needs and preferences
Support safe transfers and use of assistive equipment to prevent falls and promote independence
Accurately document care and maintain resident confidentiality
Engage residents in daily activities and provide emotional support that brightens their day
Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to maintain a safe environment

Qualifications

Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification
CPR/BLS certification required or willingness to obtain
Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings (e.g., TB, immunizations)
Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics preferred; eager learners and new grads encouraged to apply
Strong communication, teamwork, and a compassionate bedside manner

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required
GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of elder care principles and resident-centered approaches
Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
Basic charting and documentation skills
Ability to safely assist with transfers and use assistive devices
Good time management and ability to prioritize during busy shifts
