Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on clinical support and expert guidance to nursing staff on complex Med/Surg patient care
• Plan, develop and deliver orientation, continuing education, and skills training for new and existing staff
• Mentor and act as a clinical resource, promoting best practices and improving staff competency
• Assess patients and analyze clinical data to identify practice gaps and inform targeted interventions
• Lead implementation of evidence-based protocols and facilitate staff training for new equipment or procedures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance quality, safety, and patient-centered care
• Perform quality control audits and report findings to drive measurable improvements
• Advocate for patients and families while ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license for the State of Alaska
• Nursing degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA
• Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC) and High Risk Competency (SEARHC) preferred/required as listed
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in acute care settings preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively

Education

• Nursing degree required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Sound knowledge of clinical practice standards, medication administration, and acute patient management
• Experience with evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives
• Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Effective teaching methods and ability to design and deliver engaging educational content
• Skilled in comprehensive patient assessment and patient/family education
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and support staff through high-stress situations
