Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in the stepdown setting during 12-hour night shifts, monitoring acuity and acting decisively
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and perform continuous telemetry monitoring with confidence
• Administer medications safely using solid basic pharmacology knowledge and follow established protocols
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and timely handoffs
• Complete required competency exams and skills checklists and maintain accurate, timely documentation
• Educate patients and families about care plans and transitions, helping patients leave the unit safer and more informed

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Kansas (or compact license where applicable) and good standing with Nursys verification
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications/skills listed as required in the checklist
• Comfort and/or experience in stepdown or progressive care environments; ability to work 12-hour night shifts
• Successful completion of Prime assessments and skills checklist (rhythm interpretation, basic pharmacology, specialty exam) as part of onboarding

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring skills
• Working knowledge of basic pharmacology for safe medication administration
• Proficiency with NIHSS stroke assessments and related acute care workflows
• Familiarity with license/certificate verification processes (Nursys) and credentialing requirements
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills for high-acuity patients
