Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, compassionate bedside care for progressive care patients on a Neuro Med/Surg unit
• Monitor telemetry and interpret EKG changes to respond quickly to patient needs
• Administer medications, manage PCA and feeding pumps, and perform safe IV starts
• Perform wound care and manage surgical drains with attention to detail
• Care for and troubleshoot nasogastric and chest tubes as required
• Document care accurately in Meditech and complete bedside shift reports
• Prioritize care, multitask effectively, and escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
• Deliver patient- and family-centered education and include families in the plan of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience; Med/Surg or PCU experience strongly preferred
• Proven skill in IV insertion, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and EKG recognition
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Meditech electronic charting and accurate documentation
• IV pump, feeding pump and PCA management
• Wound care and surgical drain maintenance
• Nasogastric tube and chest tube care
• Strong prioritization, multitasking and clinical judgment
