Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical rooms and supplies using physician preference cards to ensure each case runs smoothly
• Maintain a sterile field from opening supplies through dressing placement to protect patient safety
• Assist with patient positioning on the OR table under RN guidance, ensuring comfort and procedure access
• Perform surgical prep and open sterile supplies as needed to support the surgical team
• Pull supplies and instruments for upcoming cases and manage central processing coordinator duties on rotation
• Update surgeon preference cards as changes occur so future cases are efficient and accurate
• Clean and turnover the OR between cases to minimize delays and maintain a safe environment
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, nurses, and support staff to promote teamwork and positive outcomes

Qualifications

• Must maintain Certification in the State of Colorado as an OR Tech
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant surgical technology experience
• Prefer graduate of an accredited surgical technology program
• Certified OR Tech preferred (nice-to-have)
• Ability to work under RN supervision and adapt to on-call demands
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and sterile processing best practices
• Operating Room (OR) procedures and instrument sterilization
• Patient positioning and surgical prep procedures
• Familiarity with surgeon preference cards and OR turnover workflows
• Central processing coordinator duties and instrument availability management
• Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability in fast-paced settings
