Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons as a competent first assistant across elective and emergency cases, maintaining high standards of technologist practice
• Provide patient-focused care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure excellent perioperative service
• Support emergency procedures and adapt quickly during urgent surgical situations
• Assist in a wide variety of procedures including orthopedic total joints, hip fractures, arthroscopy, ORIFs, shoulder scopes/replacements, plus general, neuro, vascular, gyn, and urology cases
• Operate and assist with DaVinci robotic surgeries as part of the expanding robotics program
• Help maintain a safe, efficient, and caring environment for patients and staff

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of First Assist (FA) experience — required
• Proficiency in orthopedic cases specifically: total joints, hip fx, arthroscopy, ORIFs, shoulder scopes and replacements — required
• Proficient with general surgery, neurosurgery, vascular, gynecology, and urology cases — required
• Proficient in DaVinci robotics — required
• Active American Heart Association BLS (AHA) — required
• Active NBSTSA or ABSA FA Certification — required
• Ability to provide a permanent address (facility will not consider candidates within a 50-mile radius)
• Work history and skills checklist current to 1 year, plus 2 supervisory references with dates employed (documents required)
• Applicants who were direct employees of the facility within the last 2 years are not eligible (facility will perform name clearances case by case)

Knowledge & Skills

• Operating room workflow and standards of practice
• Patient care and perioperative safety principles
• Emergency procedure support and rapid response in the OR
• Robotic surgery (DaVinci) experience and instrumentation
• Orthopedic specialties: total joints, hip fractures, arthroscopy, ORIFs, shoulder procedures
• Experience with general, neuro, vascular, gynecology, and urology surgical procedures
• Experience using Cerner EMR for documentation
