Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department and ensure high-quality patient care
• Evaluate and treat patients directly (approximately 80% clinical time) with evidence-based interventions
• Supervise and mentor certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians
• Lead the clinical education and competency process, ensuring staff competence and growth
• Develop, review, and maintain OT policies and procedures covering scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, documentation, and discharge planning
• Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to professional standards and the State Practice Act
• Oversee documentation quality and clinical record-keeping to support patient outcomes and audits
• Collaborate on program development and other administrative initiatives to improve services

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
• Currently licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance (required)
• Experience supervising COTAs and rehabilitation support staff, with demonstrated leadership skills
• Strong experience in patient evaluation, treatment planning, documentation, and discharge planning
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements, policy/procedure development, and clinical competency processes
• AOTA membership is preferred
• Ability to function in accordance with the State Practice Act and facility requirements

Education

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in occupational therapy evaluation and treatment planning
• Strong documentation practices and familiarity with regulatory compliance
• Leadership and staff supervision, including performance coaching and mentorship
• Policy and procedure development and implementation
• Program development and quality improvement experience
• Effective communication with interdisciplinary teams and patients
• Clinical education, competency assessment, and staff development
