Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care to adult post-op cardiac and CVICU patients
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic and cardiac telemetry data to guide treatment
• Administer medications, IV therapies and blood products safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers and multidisciplinary teams on care plans
• Perform complex assessments, intervene for changes in condition and escalate appropriately
• Educate patients and families about recovery goals, equipment and follow-up care
• Document thoroughly and timely in the electronic health record to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of Texas or compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or critical care nursing experience
• BLS required; ACLS required or willing to obtain prior to start
• Current clinical skills in post-op cardiac care, vasoactive drips and advanced monitoring
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization and communication skills
• Ability to pass facility orientation and any required competency checks

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of cardiac post-operative care and CVICU standards
• Proficiency with invasive monitoring: arterial lines, PA catheters, and central lines
• Comfort managing vasoactive infusions and titration protocols
• Experience with ventilator management and oxygenation strategies
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and bedside handoff skills
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation best practices
• Ability to mentor and support less experienced nurses during high-acuity care
