Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients before, during, and after procedures
• Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, ensuring sterile technique and instrument readiness
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform thorough patient assessments, verify surgical consent and site, and conduct time-outs per policy
• Monitor patients intraoperatively, recognize and respond to changes in condition, and escalate concerns
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and post-anesthesia handoffs to PACU staff
• Participate in competency testing and skills checklists to maintain specialty-specific proficiency

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Oregon license required or eligibility to obtain
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• License/Certificate verification required prior to start
• Willingness to complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Successful completion of pre-employment health requirements (fit test, drug screen, immunizations)
• Experience in the operating room or perioperative environment preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative infection control
• Comfort with surgical instruments, counts, and OR equipment
• Skill in patient assessment and monitoring in the operative setting
• Effective communication and teamwork within a multidisciplinary surgical team
• Ability to follow specialty-specific competency protocols and checklists
• Attention to detail for accurate documentation and patient safety practices
