Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality Med/Tele and PCU-level nursing care for adults and geriatrics, including post-cardiac cath and EP study patients
- Monitor telemetry continuously and read/interpret ECG strips to identify and act on cardiac changes
- Titrate IV drips safely and per protocol (common drips include amiodarone, Cardizem, heparin, nitro, nipride, lasix, low-dose dopamine)
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to manage patients on Bipap, trachs and high-flow devices and troubleshoot respiratory equipment
- Perform patient assessments, document care in Epic, and communicate changes to the care team and providers
- Serve as a resource during PCU overflow and assist with charge responsibilities when required
- Support safe patient flow by floating to other areas as needed and providing professional, compassionate care
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (able to submit license for this facility)
- Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience, with Med/Telemetry or PCU experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Comfortable reading and interpreting ECG/strips and titrating IV drips
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac care, and stepdown/PCU practices
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Travel nurse experience welcome; first-time travelers are encouraged to apply
- Must comply with facility radius rule: not currently FT/PT/PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities
- Able to commit to required time-off policy for a 13-week contract (upfront RTO of 7 days or less as required)
Education
- BSN not required
- Active RN license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Titration and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Familiarity with PCU/stepdown workflows and nurse-to-patient ratios for acuity
- Experience troubleshooting respiratory support devices such as Bipap, trachs and Airvo
- Proficiency with Epic or similar electronic health record systems
- Strong assessment, prioritization and communication skills for acute and complex patients
- Ability to work independently on nights and collaboratively on day shifts
