Shift Type: 3x12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (typically 3 shifts/week, days vary); every other weekend required; Day shift

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients rapidly and compassionately in a busy mixed adult/pediatric Emergency Department
- Stabilize and manage acute and critical conditions including trauma, respiratory failure, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Provide expert airway and ventilator management, including intubation and care of vented patients
- Perform and manage IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care and arterial line monitoring
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias; respond to cardiac events and obtain 12-lead EKGs
- Administer and titrate emergency medications and IV drips, including vasopressors and continuous sedation
- Deliver procedural sedation and assist with chest tube, splinting and other emergency procedures
- Document clearly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and transfer when needed
- Educate patients and families, and advocate for patient safety and quality outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (state of practice required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience (mixed adult/pediatric and trauma experience preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS; PALS, NIHSS and TNCC are highly preferred
- Proven experience with ventilator/vented patient care, intubation and advanced airway management
- Strong IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including blood product administration and central line care
- Proficiency with Epic charting (charting system required)
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-acuity Level III trauma ED with high daily census
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Epic electronic charting and documentation best practices
- Triage principles and emergency nursing assessment
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Ventilator management and ABG interpretation
- Trauma assessment and acute resuscitation skills
- Procedural skills: intubation support, chest tube care, arterial line management
- Pediatric emergency care alongside adult emergency skills
- Isolation precautions, infection control, and safe medication administration
