Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Measure and document vital signs and report any changes in condition promptly
• Support mobility and transfer activities using safe body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection prevention practices
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the care team to promote coordinated care
• Accurately document resident care and observations in charts or electronic records

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (required)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or required per facility policy)
• Comfortable working with older adults in long-term care or skilled nursing settings
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization requirements
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care needs and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in taking and recording vital signs, weight, and other basic assessments
• Awareness of infection control, safe patient handling, and fall prevention
• Familiarity with documentation best practices and basic electronic charting
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and interdisciplinary teams
• Time management and prioritization to handle multiple resident needs
