Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care including bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility assistance
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes to the nursing team promptly
- Assist with activities of daily living to promote patient dignity and independence
- Support the nursing team with timely documentation and clear communication
- Help maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents and patients
- Build trusting relationships with patients and families through kindness and professionalism
- Participate in care planning and shift handoffs to ensure continuity and quality of care
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (required) — must be active and in good standing
- Valid state nursing aide registration or eligibility to register in North Carolina
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Previous experience in a long-term care or acute care setting preferred but new grads are welcome
- Strong communication skills and a patient-first attitude
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED (typical requirement)
- Completion of an approved CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamental patient care skills (bathing, transfers, feeding, toileting)
- Accurate vital sign measurement and basic assessment skills
- Basic charting and electronic documentation familiarity
- Infection control best practices and safe body mechanics
- Teamwork and clear communication with nurses, therapists, and families
- Time management and prioritization during busy shifts
