Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients on overnight shifts
- Assess and monitor patient status, recognizing changes and escalating concerns promptly
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Document care thoroughly in the electronic health record to ensure continuity
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care
- Support admissions, discharges and transfers with attention to detail and patient education
- Respond effectively to emergencies and prioritize patient safety at all times
Qualifications
- Active RN license (compact license accepted where applicable) — Travel Registered Nurse credentialing is required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS and PALS preferred or available depending on unit needs
- Current CPR certification
- Prior acute care or med-surg experience preferred; travel nursing experience is a plus
- Ability to pass credentialing and background checks in a timely manner
- Professional, adaptable, and team-oriented with excellent communication skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma or BSN for RNs)
- Additional certifications or specialty training considered a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Medication administration and IV therapy competence
- Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate charting
- Ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients during overnight hours
- Effective communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
- Infection control and patient safety best practices
- Time management and prioritization under fast-paced conditions
- Basic wound care and post-operative monitoring skills
