Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting daily living activities with dignity and respect
- Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility and feeding while promoting independence
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Keep accurate and timely documentation of care and observations in the resident chart
- Support a safe, clean environment by following infection control and facility safety protocols
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care plans
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required) — you saw Class: GNA in the posting
- State CNA/GNA registration in Maryland or ability to obtain state registration quickly
- Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or required depending on facility)
- Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred; new grads with strong references considered
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA certification or equivalent state credential
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in safe patient handling and transfers
- Ability to take and document vitals, intake/output, and daily care activities
- Familiarity with infection prevention, PPE use, and safe hygiene practices
- Good observational skills and clear, timely reporting to nursing staff
- Compassionate bedside manner and the ability to build rapport with residents and families
