Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered physical therapy services in a skilled nursing facility
- Assist the supervising Physical Therapist with treatment plans and goal-directed interventions
- Implement therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers and functional mobility training
- Document resident progress thoroughly and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
- Educate residents and caregivers on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
- Participate in care planning and help ensure continuity of care across shifts
- Contribute to a positive culture by collaborating with nurses, aides and other therapists
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program or equivalent education
- Florida PTA license or eligible to obtain Florida licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification or willing to obtain
- Open to all experience levels — any experience accepted, including new grads
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program (typically Associate degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience (or coursework) in therapeutic exercise, gait training and transfers
- Familiarity with SNF workflows, documentation standards and care planning
- Skilled in patient assessment, progress tracking and reporting clinical changes
- Good clinical judgment, safety awareness and ability to adapt treatment to patient needs
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with residents, families and staff
