Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer intravesical chemotherapy (Gemcitabine/Gemzar) and monitor patients closely for reactions and extravasation
- Perform catheter changes, port and central line care with meticulous attention to safety
- Conduct urodynamic studies (UDS), PTNS procedures, voiding trials and related uro-oncology interventions
- Teach patients clean intermittent catheterization (CIC) and provide clear, compassionate education
- Triage patient calls, manage the EPIC in-basket and process medication refill requests
- Chart accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
- Administer IV therapies and blood products when indicated and monitor for complications
- Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis, anaphylaxis, sepsis, hemorrhage, spinal cord compression) and escalate appropriately
- Provide symptom management, supportive care and patient-centered education to improve outcomes
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary clinic team to optimize patient pathways post-tumor removal
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Washington (pending licenses not accepted)
- ONCC or ONS chemotherapy certification required
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience
- BLS required; chemo/ONS certification and IV/infusion experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience with EPIC charting in an outpatient setting
- Comfortable performing catheter changes, port/central line care, and specialty uro-oncology procedures
- Willingness to commit to a 26-week assignment (locals and travelers welcome)
- Strong triage, communication and patient education skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Chemotherapy administration (intravesical and IV) and monitoring
- IV therapy/infusions and administration of blood and blood products
- Port and central line care and maintenance
- Catheter changes, CIC teaching, voiding trials and related urology procedures
- Urodynamic studies (UDS) and PTNS procedure experience
- Triage skills, in-basket management and medication refill workflows
- Oncologic emergency recognition and basic management (ATLS/tumor lysis, sepsis, anaphylaxis, hemorrhage, extravasation)
- Symptom management: nausea, neuropathy, edema and altered mental status
