Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and resident behaviors accurately and promptly
• Implement individualized care plans and report changes in condition to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to prevent injury
• Foster meaningful connections with residents through conversation, engagement, and respectful interaction
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment and adhere to infection control practices

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification (required) and active standing in the state where the assignment takes place
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screening per facility policy
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a genuine passion for geriatric care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skill in safe resident transfers and use of assistive devices
• Ability to take and document vital signs and other routine observations
• Familiarity with infection control practices and resident safety protocols
• Clear communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Compassionate approach to dementia care and behavioral management techniques
