Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and resident behaviors accurately and promptly
- Implement individualized care plans and report changes in condition to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to prevent injury
- Foster meaningful connections with residents through conversation, engagement, and respectful interaction
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment and adhere to infection control practices
Qualifications
- Valid GNA certification (required) and active standing in the state where the assignment takes place
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screening per facility policy
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a genuine passion for geriatric care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skill in safe resident transfers and use of assistive devices
- Ability to take and document vital signs and other routine observations
- Familiarity with infection control practices and resident safety protocols
- Clear communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Compassionate approach to dementia care and behavioral management techniques
