Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on nursing care to patients in the facility
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document care thoroughly
- Perform patient assessments, monitor changes, and report findings to the care team
- Maintain clear, timely clinical documentation and follow facility protocols
- Support safety and security procedures appropriate to the correctional healthcare setting
- Collaborate with nursing staff, providers, and support personnel to coordinate patient care
- Participate in orientation and training to ensure consistent, high-quality care delivery
Qualifications
- Current, valid LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) license required
- Available for orientation (2 weeks, Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM) and regular shifts (Wed–Sun, 1:30 PM–10:00 PM)
- Prior experience in a medical setting preferred; corrections experience is a plus
- Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and reliable documentation habits
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Education
- Completion of an accredited LVN/vocational nursing program
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration and basic clinical procedures
- Patient assessment and monitoring
- Accurate charting and electronic documentation
- Infection control and standard precautions
- Clear communication with patients and clinical staff
- Ability to follow protocols and operate within a structured facility environment
