Shift Type: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts); schedule varies with every 3rd weekend required; night shift (NOC) rotation including holiday coverage (3 of 6 major holidays)

Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide advanced neonatal intensive care to Level 4 NICU patients, including premature and complex cardiac and surgical cases
- Manage high-acuity patients with technologies like ECMO and participate in therapeutic cooling protocols when needed
- Perform and maintain competency in sterile procedures such as central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertion
- Serve as charge nurse/high-risk RN resource when scheduled, coordinating patient flow and mentoring team members
- Collaborate closely with neonatologists, midlevels, respiratory therapists, pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams for 24/7 coverage
- Document patient care accurately and timely using the Cerner EMR system
- Participate in SIMs Lab skills validation and ongoing education (lifts, restraints, wound care) to meet facility expectations
- Float to mother-baby and labor care (babies only) as needed while maintaining NICU standards
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to submit; facility willing to wait as needed)
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience (Level 4 experience required/preferred)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Cardiac STABLE certification or equivalent highly preferred
- Proven competency in sterile technique, Foley catheter insertion and central line care (SIMs Lab pass required)
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred
- Comfort with 12-hour night shifts and every-3rd-weekend scheduling
- Ability to function as charge nurse and high-risk resource
Education
- Active RN licensure required (state license eligible to submit)
- BSN not explicitly required
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of neonatal critical care, prematurity, congenital cardiac defects, and post-op surgical NICU care
- Hands-on skills with ECMO patients and familiarity with cooling protocols
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) charting
- Strong sterile-field technique and procedural competence (central lines, Foley insertion)
- Ability to work with telemetry/Phillips systems and collaborate with RT-managed ventilator support
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking and triage skills in high-acuity settings
- Experience mentoring others and managing unit-based assignments as charge nurse
