Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments accurately following established protocols
- Perform focused assessments and communicate changes in patient status to the care team
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in resident charts and electronic records
- Support security protocols and work professionally within a correctional facility environment
- Provide compassionate, respectful care while maintaining safety for residents and staff
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in intake, discharge, and chronic care management as required by facility policy
Qualifications
- Active LPN license in Pennsylvania (required)
- Minimum relevant clinical experience as an LPN; correctional or institutional experience preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Ability to pass facility background checks and comply with correctional security policies
- Comfort working nights and within a secured facility where personal devices may be restricted
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by the facility
Education
- Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program (LPN/LVN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong medication administration and documentation skills
- Triage and basic assessment skills for a correctional population
- Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
- Effective verbal and written communication with multidisciplinary teams
- De-escalation and situational awareness skills appropriate for secured settings
- Basic computer skills for electronic charting and shift reporting
