Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement and evaluate
• Deliver direct clinical care in the Emergency Department and Telemetry settings with accuracy and compassion
• Communicate changes in clinical condition and diagnostic results promptly to physicians and care team members
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and follow-up in an approachable, clear manner
• Supervise and guide other nursing personnel while upholding professional standards
• Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient condition and emergency situations
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in all interactions and documentation
• Adhere to EMTALA regulations and report suspected child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies

Qualifications

• Current, valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) completion required
• EDAP 1 and EDAP 2 completion preferred/required as listed
• DCI/BVP and BVP (MAB) training preferred or required per checklist
• NIHSS or Stroke Certification preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination/boosters preferred per facility policy
• Experience in Emergency Department nursing and Telemetry care with cardiac rhythm interpretation

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Knowledge of EMTALA and reporting requirements for abuse
• Ability to respond to changing clinical conditions quickly and accurately
• Strong patient/family teaching and communication skills
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality consistently
