Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality direct patient care in the Emergency Department using nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Perform focused patient assessments and monitor telemetry, responding rapidly to clinical changes
• Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams regarding patient status and diagnostic results
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and discharge plans in a compassionate way
• Maintain compliance with EMTALA regulations and report suspected abuse to appropriate agencies
• Lead and guide other nursing personnel to maintain professional standards of care
• Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality and accurate documentation at all times

Qualifications

• Current and valid State RN license (required)
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
• EDAP 1 and EDAP 2 training (required)
• BVP (MAB) training (required)
• NIHSS or Stroke Certification preferred
• NRP and DCI/BVP listed as desirable certifications
• Demonstrated experience in Emergency Department and Telemetry care preferred
• Knowledge of EMTALA and experience in acute/emergency settings

• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Emergency Department workflows and triage
• Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition
• Clear communication with physicians, patients and families
• Familiarity with reporting procedures for abuse and mandated reporting
• Competence with clinical documentation and diagnostic result interpretation
