Roles & Responsibilities
- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for progressive care patients
- Teach patients and their significant others about diagnosis, treatments and self-care in a clear, compassionate way
- Document patient care accurately and timely in the medical record to support safe handoffs and continuity
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate holistic, patient-focused care
- Float to MCU/PSU/APU as needed to maintain safe staffing and broaden your clinical impact
- Support telemetry/stepdown monitoring and intervene appropriately for changes in patient status
Qualifications
- Current RN (Oregon) — candidates may be considered if willing to obtain OR license
- ACLS (AHA) — must be willing to obtain if not active at submission
- BLS (AHA) — must be willing to obtain if not active at submission
- Minimum 24 months of recent Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMCU) experience — required
- Acute care hospital experience — required
- Experience with 12-hour day shifts and ability to float to MCU/PSU/APU
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of the nursing process and progressive care principles
- Effective patient and family education techniques
- Accurate medical record documentation and charting
- Telemetry and stepdown monitoring skills
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and patient care coordination
- Adaptability to float between MCU/PSU/APU and manage varied patient populations
