Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an OT to help residents regain independence
- Implement and carry out individualized treatment plans focused on ADLs, mobility, and functional goals
- Document resident progress accurately and timely in the medical record to support care continuity
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes and discharge planning
- Educate residents and families on safe techniques, adaptive equipment, and home strategies to support function
- Monitor and adjust interventions based on resident response and clinical reasoning
Qualifications
- Current COTA certification required
- Active or eligible for Missouri state licensure or registration as required
- Comfortable working in a Skilled Nursing Facility setting
- All experience levels considered, including new grads — we welcome enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
- Basic life support/CPR preferred or willing to obtain
Education
- Associate degree or completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- COTA certification from an approved program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of occupational therapy approaches for ADLs, transfers, and mobility
- Experience or comfort with SNF documentation and regulatory expectations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to safely assist with adaptive equipment, splints, and therapeutic modalities
- Good clinical reasoning and progress measurement skills
