Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently
- Support pharmacists by filling orders, labeling medications, and managing inventory
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow aseptic technique where required
- Document dispensing activities and update medication records in the pharmacy system
- Communicate professionally with clinical staff to support patient care
- Participate in quality assurance and safety initiatives to reduce errors
Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or state-registered Pharmacy Technician preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required; pharmacy technician certificate preferred
- Previous pharmacy technician experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred
- Ability to read, understand, and accurately follow medication orders and labels
- Willingness to complete required background check, drug screen, and any site-specific onboarding
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and good communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; pharmacy technician certificate or formal training preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication preparation and dispensing best practices
- Familiarity with pharmacy inventory management and controlled substance handling
- Comfort using pharmacy dispensing systems and basic computer skills
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Good interpersonal skills for collaborating with pharmacists and clinical teams
