Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping with daily living activities
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
• Take and record vital signs and observe residents for changes in condition
• Document care provided accurately and timely in resident charts
• Support fall-prevention and safe-transfer procedures to keep residents secure
• Communicate resident needs and changes clearly to nurses and interdisciplinary team
• Promote dignity, independence, and a warm environment for every resident

Qualifications

• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or completion of an approved GNA program
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain per facility requirement)
• Valid Maryland state certification or eligibility to be certified
• Comfortable assisting with transfers and personal care; physical ability to perform duties
• Reliable, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to elder care
• Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living preferred but enthusiastic new grads welcome

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
• Infection control and proper use of PPE
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
• Familiarity with resident charting and reporting procedures
