Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans for swallowing, communication, and cognitive-communication disorders
• Deliver high-quality speech-language therapy across inpatient rehab, general inpatient and outpatient clinic settings
• Perform and interpret swallow studies as appropriate and provide evidence-based dysphagia management
• Document thoroughly and timely in Cerner EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with PT, OT, nursing, physicians, and rehab aides to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as part of the staffing schedule
• Complete floor-specific orientation (three shifts) and contribute to a culture of safety and rehabilitation excellence
• Mentor and guide support staff to enhance team-based care

Qualifications

• CCC-SLP (required) with active, unrestricted state license to practice in California
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (rehab/inpatient experience preferred)
• Experience and comfort performing swallow studies and dysphagia treatment
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Experience documenting in EMR, Cerner experience preferred
• Comfort treating a broad rehab population: spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, ortho, and medically complex patients

Education

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent) and CCC-SLP

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical expertise in dysphagia evaluation and management (swallow studies)
• Experience with inpatient and outpatient rehab populations and workflows
• Proficient documentation skills in Cerner EMR or similar systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Knowledge of inpatient rehab, sub-acute care, ICU/vent care considerations, and outpatient orthopedic/lymphedema programs
• Professional communication with patients, families, and clinical colleagues
