Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by assembling and verifying surgical instruments and supplies
• Maintain a sterile field and follow strict aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures in a timely manner
• Perform instrument and sponge counts before, during, and after procedures to ensure patient safety
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, nurses, and techs to support smooth case flow
• Document procedural information accurately and support post-op turnover
• Participate actively in orientation and unit training to ensure competence and confidence

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or eligibility to obtain certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Current immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
• Comfort working in a fast-paced operating room environment and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and attention to detail
• Previous OR/ surgical tech experience preferred but new grads welcome to apply

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (Certificate or Associate's degree preferred)
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique, instrument handling, and OR workflows
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, equipment setup, and instrumentation counts
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and maintain situational awareness during cases
• Strong teamwork and communication skills under pressure
• Basic documentation skills and comfort with electronic health record (EHR) systems
