Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 10-hour day shifts with variable starts between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM (typical 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM); call rotation included (approximately 1 shift per week) and every 4th weekend on call. Day shift, no evenings.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and instruments for a high-volume OR (15-25 cases/day)
• Scrub for orthopedic, neuro/spine, general, gynecology, urology and ENT cases and assist the surgical team
• Use Cerner Surginet for case charting and perioperative documentation when required
• Support circulating nurses and anesthesia teams while following strict OR processes and safety protocols
• Participate in the call rotation and be ready for occasional weekend call coverage per schedule
• Complete orientation and work side-by-side with a preceptor until fully integrated into the unit
• Ensure surgical instrumentation and supplies are accounted for, sterilized and ready for each case

Qualifications

• BLS certification required
• COVID vaccination certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience (must have at least 2 years OR experience)
• Solid scrub skills and demonstrated competence in OR procedures
• Cerner Surginet (Cerner) EMR experience strongly preferred
• Experience with orthopedic cases strongly preferred; cardiovascular or robotic case experience required only if assigned to those teams
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume OR environment and following specific institutional processes

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred
• Surgical technology certification preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven scrub technique and sterile processing knowledge
• Familiarity with operating room workflows and instrumentation for ortho, neuro, CV and general surgery
• Experience with Cerner Surginet or similar perioperative charting systems
• Ability to operate confidently in a 10-hour day shift model with call responsibilities
• Strong teamwork, communication and situational awareness in the OR
• Adaptability to unit-specific processes and a commitment to patient safety
