Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and instruments for a high-volume OR (average 12-15 cases/day)
• Scrub and assist surgeons across a wide range of specialties including ortho, GYN, neuro, urology, vascular, ENT and robotics
• Perform efficient case turnover to keep multiple OR rooms running smoothly
• Position patients safely and follow best practices for patient handling
• Document perioperative activities in Cerner (Surginet) and coordinate with Omnicell for pharmacy needs
• Provide on-call coverage as scheduled, responding professionally to urgent case needs
• Float to Mercy Southwest as needed and collaborate with charge nurses and multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Surgical Technologist/OR Tech experience
• BLS certification required
• Comfortable providing on-call coverage, including weekend 12-hour calls
• Familiarity with Cerner (Surginet) EMR and Omnicell preferred
• Strong sterile technique, scrub technique, and surgical instrumentation skills
• Ability to work across multiple specialties including robotics and orthopedics
• Willingness to float to Mercy Southwest when needed

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program or surgical tech certificate preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile technique and patient positioning expertise
• Proficiency with surgical instrumentation and case turnover
• Experience with robotic systems such as DaVinci and general robotics workflow
• Familiarity with a broad mix of cases: ortho (totals, scopes), GYN, neuro, urology, vascular, ENT, and general surgery
• Comfortable charting and workflow in Cerner (Surginet)
• Understanding of perioperative team roles and effective communication with nursing and support staff
