Roles & Responsibilities

• Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment thoroughly to protect patients and staff
• Perform sterilization and high level disinfection (HLD) using Steris, V-Pro and Medivator systems
• Assemble instrument sets and trays accurately for a wide range of procedures, including trauma cases
• Document processing and track instrument flow in EPIC and unit logs with precision
• Follow infection prevention protocols and maintain a safe sterile processing environment
• Collaborate with OR and clinical teams to ensure timely supply of sterile instruments
• Participate in orientation and preceptor shifts to mentor new or rotating staff
• Maintain equipment, report malfunctions, and support unit quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• CRCST or CBSPD certification required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing / central sterile experience (Trauma experience a plus)
• Comfortable using Steris, V-Pro and Medivator sterilization systems
• Familiarity with EPIC charting or similar tracking systems
• Able to complete orientation week in-state; driver's license documentation required
• Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and team-oriented mindset

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• CRCST or CBSPD certification required
• BLS (AHA) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in decontamination, sterilization and instrument assembly
• Proficiency with Steris, V-Pro and Medivator equipment
• High level disinfection (HLD) techniques and infection control best practices
• Experience with EPIC or similar charting/inventory systems
• Understanding of trauma case workflows and OR support
• Excellent organizational skills and careful, methodical work habits
• Ability to follow protocols, maintain documentation, and troubleshoot basic equipment issues
