Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilator settings and provide advanced ventilator management for adult critical care patients
• Perform airway management including suctioning, tracheostomy care, extubation support and airway device placement
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and adjust respiratory plans accordingly to improve patient outcomes
• Deliver aerosolized and inhaled medication therapies, including nebulizers, MDIs and specialty agents as ordered
• Provide pulmonary hygiene, sputum collection and focused respiratory assessments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered respiratory care plans
• Document care accurately and timely in the medical record and communicate changes to the care team
• Troubleshoot ventilator and alarm issues, and support safe weaning from mechanical ventilation

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and College diploma and/or transcripts required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred
• CRT, ACLS and BLS credentials noted as preferred where applicable
• Ohio state respiratory license (OH) listed — bring current licensure documentation
• Minimum ~2 years of respiratory therapy experience (as indicated in job details)
• Experience with adult critical care and airway management strongly preferred
• Comfort working night shifts and floating between campuses as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Education

• High School Diploma required
• College diploma and/or transcripts required
• RRT certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management (GE ventilators; Hamilton preferred)
• BiPAP and CPAP setup and management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and oxygen therapy expertise
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide therapy changes
• Nebulizer therapy, aerosol setup (mask/trach), MDI and Medihaler administration
• Tracheostomy care, suctioning, pulmonary hygiene and extubation skills
• Medication administration for respiratory agents and familiarity with common inhaled medications
• Troubleshooting high pressure alarms and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Comfort working in adult critical care and emergency department settings
