Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry patients continuously and act quickly on changes to rhythm or clinical status
• Administer medications and manage medication drips safely and accurately
• Perform and assist with EEGs and bubble studies as needed for neuro patients
• Operate and troubleshoot Kangaroo pumps and other unit equipment
• Document patient assessments, interventions and responses clearly in Meditech
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans
• Provide compassionate patient and family education about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning
• Adhere to unit guidelines and hospital policies while promoting a positive, engaged team environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kansas or compact RN license as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (telemetry or neuro experience preferred)
• BLS certification required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, medication administration and medication drips
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred
• Comfortable assisting with EEGs, bubble studies and using Kangaroo pumps
• Positive attitude, flexibility and strong teamwork/communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Medication administration and IV drip management
• Meditech electronic medical record navigation
• EEG assistance and neuro-focused patient care
• Kangaroo pump operation and troubleshooting
• Stroke scale (NIH) familiarity is a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and patient education skills
