Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for patients in the Step-Down Unit
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition using clinical judgment and established protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Perform focused assessments, manage complex IV therapies, and administer medications safely
• Educate patients and families on condition, plan of care, and discharge instructions to support positive outcomes
• Document patient care and interventions accurately and promptly in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve patient care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana (required)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS preferred
• Experience or comfort working in a Step-Down Unit / progressive care environment
• Strong assessment skills and familiarity with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and complex patient needs
• Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of step-down/progressive care practices and patient monitoring
• Skilled in cardiac telemetry interpretation and responding to rapid changes
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Proficient documentation and electronic health record usage
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support care transitions
