Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement engaging recreational activities tailored to residents' abilities and interests
• Assess and reassess resident activity needs through observation, conversation, and documentation
• Support residents during community reintegration by accompanying them on excursions such as shopping, dining, and recreational outings
• Provide meaningful one-on-one engagement to boost residents' wellbeing and quality of life
• Coordinate logistics with hospital departments to ensure supplies, equipment, and schedules align with activity plans
• Work with dietary staff to arrange special or ethnic meal selections and notify them of off-site meals or schedule changes
• Prepare, set up, clean up, and maintain audiovisual and activity equipment; manage inventory and report shortages
• Assist Certified Nurse Aides and licensed staff with patient care tasks like toileting, bathing, dressing, and grooming when needed
• Operate vehicles to transport residents during supervised community excursions following facility policy
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to care planning and documentation

Qualifications

• CNA certification is REQUIRED
• Active BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of Recreational Aide experience in a recreational care or long-term care setting, no exceptions
• Experience with MDS is essential
• Proven ability to independently execute recreational and therapeutic activities aligned with treatment plans
• Strong communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and staff
• Ability to operate vehicles for supervised community outings per facility policy
