Shift Type: 12.5-hour shifts, schedule to be determined (exact start/end times and days TBD), RN - SDU

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to Step-Down Unit patients
Continuously monitor patient status, interpret data, and take appropriate action
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize care plans
Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress clearly in the EHR
Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge needs
Respond to clinical emergencies and escalate concerns promptly

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligible to obtain one
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Advanced certifications such as ACLS or PALS are a plus
Experience in a Step-Down Unit (SDU), telemetry, or acute care preferred
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Cardiac monitoring and telemetry familiarity
Proficient in medication administration and IV therapy
Excellent patient assessment and clinical decision-making
Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
Comfortable using electronic health record systems and documenting care
