Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to progressive care and medical/surgical patients from admission through discharge
• Assess and monitor hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients using telemetry and advanced assessment skills
• Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including ventilators, multiple IV pumps, arterial and central lines
• Recognize and intervene for early signs of patient deterioration; implement established policies and escalate when appropriate
• Collaborate with providers, charge nurses and interdisciplinary team members to achieve excellent patient outcomes
• Serve as a clinical leader on the unit, assist with precepting new staff and provide direction to nursing support staff
• Coordinate discharge planning and patient education to support safe transitions of care

Qualifications

• Degree from a Nursing Program (RN)
• Current State of Montana RN licensure (required)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Practice experience in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit and recent Critical Care or Progressive Care nursing experience (required)
• EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
• Comfortable with clinical leadership, precepting and working with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Degree from a Nursing Program

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and basic cardiac monitoring with confident EKG interpretation
• Mechanical ventilation support (noninvasive and invasive) experience
• Skilled with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes and nasogastric tubes
• Experience managing multiple IV pumps and continuous bladder irrigation
• Strong assessment skills for rapid recognition of changes in patient condition
• Pediatric experience preferred; advanced nursing principles and procedures
