Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients, ensuring safety and comfort
Perform focused assessments and prepare patients for surgery according to protocols
Collaborate closely with surgical teams, anesthesiology, and family members to coordinate care
Educate caregivers and families about pre-op expectations and post-op plans in clear, kind language
Accurately document pre-operative assessments, interventions, and patient education
Participate in orientation activities and contribute to a positive team culture

Qualifications

Current RN license in Massachusetts (or eligible to obtain) required
Experience or training in pediatric nursing and pre-operative care preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Comfortable working with children and their families in a surgical setting
Ability to pass required background checks and credentialing

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Strong pediatric assessment and pre-operative nursing skills
Excellent communication and family-centered care approach
Familiarity with perioperative workflows and sterile technique fundamentals
Good documentation skills and attention to detail
Team-oriented mindset and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
