Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care to pediatric patients, ensuring comfort and safety
Perform focused assessments and prepare young patients and families for procedures
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative teams to coordinate smooth handoffs
Educate caregivers on pre-op instructions and what to expect — make families feel informed and calm
Document patient assessments, interventions, and communication clearly and accurately
Participate actively in orientation, unit training, and quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
Experience or strong interest in pre-operative nursing and pediatric nursing (core to this role)
Comfort working with children and communicating effectively with families
Willingness to participate in orientation and unit-specific training
Professionalism, strong teamwork, and attention to patient safety

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of pediatric pre-operative care and common perioperative practices
Ability to perform focused patient assessments and identify concerns pre-op
Clear, compassionate communication with children and families
Teamwork and collaboration within a multidisciplinary perioperative environment
Accurate clinical documentation and adherence to safety protocols
