Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and rapidly identify changes in cardiac rhythm to keep patients safe
• Manage IV drips and titratable cardiac and anticoagulation medications with precision
• Provide focused post-operative and progressive care for surgical, trauma and cardiac patients
• Perform consistent vital signs and thorough patient assessments every four hours
• Document patient care and clinical changes accurately in the Meditech EMR
• Coordinate with physicians, other nurses and ancillary teams to develop and execute care plans
• Respond effectively to acute events and participate in bedside interventions when needed
• Educate patients and families on condition, recovery expectations and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to work in Texas) — required
• ACLS, BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certification — required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care or progressive care nursing experience
• Experience in Progressive Care Unit, stepdown, telemetry or post-op surgical care preferred
• Comfort with Meditech EMR and telemetry equipment is a plus
• Strong communication skills, teamwork orientation and adaptability in a fast-paced trauma center

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms
• IV drip management including heparin and other titratable drips
• Post-operative and progressive care nursing for surgical and cardiac patients
• Familiarity with cardiac meds, BiPAP/CPAP support and basic ventilatory care
• Vital signs assessment, early recognition of sepsis and hemodynamic changes
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar EMR workflows
• Ability to work within 1:4 patient ratios (1:5 stepdown maximum) and prioritize effectively
• Customer-focused communication with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams
